Quality Assurance Engineer
Telvent is seeking a QA Analyst in Fort Collins, CO to focus on quality assurance through testing of internally developed software products. Please read full job description below. JOB DESCRIPTION QA Engineer will use their creativity, technical curiosity, and stellar communication to ensure high quality software is designed, tested and delivered for our Telvent clients. Our internally developed software solutions cover a broad range of technologies, primarily client applications interacting with relational databases, but also including web services, mobile, and high-volume event processing queues. QA Engineers perform functional enhancement testing, automated testing, regression, performance, scale and longevity testing, while learning and applying software testing best practices and Telvent testing procedures. The QA Engineer will be expected to: • Build relationships with development project team and engage in all stages of the software development, from requirements refinement and design through iterative develop/test cycles • Independently develop test plans to apply to the various test types employed with our software • Follow established guidelines in the testing of software products • Identify, report and manage the lifecycle of all software defects found • Contribute to team improvement initiatives and projects, including team tools, process changes, and test automation • Continuously grow skills and knowledge of test best practices, tools, and code use and application for increased test efficiency • Serve as an subject matter expert and assist with technical support issues for both internal and external clients as needed POSITION REQUIREMENTS • Possess a BS (or working towards a degree) in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field with a computer emphasis. • Be thorough, have good attention to detail, and display a high level of accuracy • Enjoy troubleshooting and possess good problem solving skills • Have the willingness and aptitude to learn technical processes and applications at a relatively quick pace • Be self-motivated and willing to work hard as a part of a dedicated team of QA professionals • Possess a solid understanding of the software development process • Demonstrate a basic understanding of relational databases and tools, with the ability to view and manipulate data • Have excellent written and oral communication skills • Be proficient with MS Office applications, MS Windows OS, and some basic Windows utilities • Prior test experience is a plus • Possess basic to intermediate understanding of programming concepts and theory.
