Box Shaped World is a play on words. For one, it refers to Geography and the spatial sciences, including Geographic Information Systems/Science. It also refers to the idea of a little black box that does everything for you with the click of a button. Recently this has become known as the "Cult of the Amateur," software enabling anyone to do anything. While the author doesn't disagree with this, he is striving to understand what goes on inside that box, and he also wants to share what he finds through the blog and tutorials.
