Technical Writer - Software Documentation

Position Summary & Major Responsibilities: The primary role of the Technical Writer is to produce and maintain end-user documentation that describes the use and operation of Telvent Miner & Miner products. This includes researching, writing, and maintaining using and configuring help documentation. It also involves assisting in the preparation of technical life cycle documents and editing documents created by other team members. The Technical Writer must have strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; proven research, writing, editing, and organization skills; and knowledge of current desktop publishing, HTML and graphics software. Experience with databases and GIS tools is a definite plus. The Technical Writer will: • Research, write, and maintain using and configuring help documentation that describes the operation and use of Telvent Miner & Miner products. Track progress on specific product enhancements • Edit documents created by other team members. • Test all user documentation to ensure quality, clarity, accuracy, and completeness. • Interpret product and design requirements in the context of TM&M technology and translate those requirements into information easily understood by non-technical end users. • Work with Software Engineers and Product Specialists to understand the configuration and use of new functionality and translate that information into information easily understood by non-technical end users. • Ensure that documentation accurately reflects the operation of TM&M products. Education & Experience Preferred: • BS degree in English, Technical Communication, GIS or related field. • Solid written and oral communication skills. • Knowledge of HTML, desktop publishing and graphics software. • Experience working with electric, gas, water and waste water utilities preferred. • Must pass background check.
