Your Opportunity
Location: The majority of the work will be located in Boston, MA.
Stantec's New England Asset Management group has an immediate need for a Construction Manager & ADA Coordinator with an interest in improving accessibility for pedestrian infrastructure, enhancing existing workflows to improve efficiency, ensuring proper communication & coordination between all involved internal & external parties, and creating innovative processes to document construction completion and compliance.
This is mid level position for an experienced and motivated individual that either understands or is willing to learn ADA construction requirements for sidewalks, ramps, and crosswalks located within the public right-of-way. The ideal candidate has construction inspection oversight, construction program planning, an understanding of asset management/ work order management software, and technical experience with GIS from an internship, co-op, or other work experience. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work in a rewarding field and see the first-hand challenges that are facing our public works agencies by attending large team meetings, providing guidance and solutions, and tracking work performance and schedule.
We are looking for Construction Managers who have a positive attitude, are creative and think outside the box, are fast learners, and enjoy working in both the office and field.
Your Key Responsibilities
Learn and master the ADA construction requirements for sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, and crosswalks.
Assist in inventorying and evaluating infrastructure for ADA construction requirements
Assist in quality control of inventoried data
Conduct field visits and assessments to ensure planned construction programs are met.
Meet with disability groups, constituents, and community leaders to coordinate and report construction progress.
Utilize asset management/work order management software to track progress and compliance of infrastructure.
Assemble support data to file variances with the States Architectural Access Board.
Attend and present in client, agency, and public meetings.
Receive training and mentoring from diverse team of engineers.
Be a valued member of a unique project team
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Knowledge of ADA construction requirements for pedestrian infrastructure.
Have experience and knowledge in asset/work order management systems which incorporate a GIS component.
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
Pro-active attitude, attention to detail, desire to learn, punctual, and highly organized.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Must have the ability and desire to work outside
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field. Coursework dedicated to construction management, asset management/economics, and/or GIS is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for short periods of time. Field work may include extensive data gathering and asset inspection with exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
