Field Technician

About:
RDI-Engineering provides a range of services to various power and communication utility companies, with a strong background in field surveying, load analysis, and design. We constantly seek individuals who will complement our growing team of employees dedicated to safe, efficient, and accurate work practices.

Role:
Responsible for surveying Edison and 3rd party electrical and communication utility poles to generate field reports for in-house processing. Reports to changing work sites and self manages to complete the maximum number of surveys possible while maintaining safe and accurate work habits. Represents RDI-Engineering in a professional manner, supporting goals and deadlines.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifying all attachments on utility poles including conductors, communication lines, and equipment
Calculating various measurements including heights, distances, angles, and thicknesses
Properly photograph and geolocate existing structures and equipment
Quickly navigate through custom grid mapping solutions and interpret key symbology
Maintaining familiarity with an assortment of company documents outlining required job knowledge
Interacting professionally with the general public and home owners when accessing private property
Communicate with peers and superiors, clearly and efficiently, complex work scenarios
Intermediate working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and cloud storage services
Follow strict safety guidelines and accuracy tolerances
Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
Minimum of: 2 years work experience (non-related), OR 6 months (related field), OR 2 year degree
A valid drivers license with clean driving record (no points, at-fault accidents, or DUIs)
No felonies or misdemeanors (client will not approve any failed background checks)
Must take and pass a pre-employment drug screening
Able to travel for 1 week periods

Other Considerations:
Available during the range of working hours from 6am-6pm, for 8 or 10 hour shifts, Monday-Saturday
Extensive drive time in areas including street, highway, traffic, off-road and adverse weather conditions
Extensive walking/hiking outdoors in cold weather, extreme heat, some rain, fog, and high winds.
Required to wear/carry on your person at all times: PPE (Personal Protective Equipment: hard hat, safety vest, long sleeve shirt, pants, boots, and gloves), safety cones, tripod, rangefinder, digital tablet, backpack with miscellaneous gear/tools and potentially a personal water supply

Pay and Benefits:
$12/hr for first 90 days, then $14/hr + Incentive Bonuses + Overtime
