Your Opportunity
Position : Virtual / Remote in the MA area
Stantec's New England Asset Management group has an immediate need for a GIS & Asset Management Specialist with experience in Asset Management Systems particularly for transportation related assets, i.e.- pavements, sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, pavement markings, signs, etc. to improve infrastructure repair planning and prioritization for progressive municipalities within New England region.
This is mid-level position to function as a member of the Asset Management Team to participate in and oversee project implementation, data migration, and quality assurance for various asset/work order management system projects. This position will entail collecting/inspecting quality data, performing innovative data analytics, producing exceptional quality written reports and plans based on individual client needs and goals. This position works with various municipalities to ensure their Asset Management Service needs are met on an ongoing basis.
We are looking for Asset Management Specialists who have a positive attitude, are creative and think outside the box, fast learners, and enjoy working in both the office and field.
Your Key Responsibilities
Assist with the coordination and progression of multiple municipal asset management projects
Attend and participate in client meetings, work with users of asset management systems to define goals, projects, and business processes related to asset management systems
Work cooperatively with team staff and/or project managers to complete assigned work
Work within a team environment to develop geographic database structures, tables, forms, and reports
Contribute to data modeling, analyses, and reports of findings and recommendations
Leverage ArcGIS for in depth spatial analysis & solutions
Assist team members with QC of asset data collection
Provide training to users of GIS and asset management systems
Stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of asset management software, automated data collection, GIS software, database design, and related hardware and software
Develop, support, and provide training with ESRI based web applications; WebApp Builder, WebApps, Dashboards, Field Maps, and Survey123
Lead in the development of custom GIS applications, solutions and expand the use of asset management systems
Be a valued member of a unique project team.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Aptitude to work with information from external relational databases
Experience with ESRI suite of tools (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online)
Working knowledge of the principles of asset/work order management systems
Knowledge of the principles of geographic information science and GIS technology
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and clients
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
Ability to organize work, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction
Ability to utilize personal computers, standard office equipment and standard software applications as Microsoft Office
Positive attitude, attention to detail, desire to learn, punctual, and highly organized.
Knowledge of pavement management and ADA/MUTCD compliance is a plus
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent coursework from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, Asset Management/ GIS, Geography, Information System Management, or a closely related field with major course work in GIS, or equivalent academic credentials related to the field of GIS. A Master's degree is desirable.
Minimum of (5) years of experience in the use of Asset Management software technologies.
A comparable amount of training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. GIS certification can be used to establish equivalency. Must maintain good interpersonal and communication skills to deal with public. Excellent written and oral communications skills required. Must be able to speak, write, and comprehend English language.
