Primary Purpose of Department
The Office of OneIT provides highly reliable information technology infrastructure, tools and services to empower the University to achieve its academic, research, administrative and service goals.
Primary Purpose of Position
The GIS Developer develops and supports web applications for Facilities Management and for the University as a whole. The position also provides support/development, Archibus, Smart client (CAD) and GIS modules. This position also administers the ArcGIS web server and the ArcSDE spatial database.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
Develop web applications with a focus on mapping. Create scripts for automating mapping processes. Administer the GIS database and GIS web servers. Administer GIS and floorplan (CAD) data collection.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor Degree
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1. Knowledge and skill in developing Geographic Information Systems (GIS)/Mapping-based applications using ESRI suite (ArcGIS, ArcIMS, ArcSDE, ArcInfo, ArcView).
2. Experience in developing applications using Java/J2EE technologies (JDBC, Servlets, and JSP).
3. Experience developing web-based services and SOA.
4. Experience with client-side, web-development languages (JavaScript, HTML, DHTML, and CSS).
5. Experience with relational databases (Oracle/SQL).
6. Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation and comprehension) required.
7. Effective skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communications.
8. Computer literate. Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn new programs.
9. Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures.
10. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
11. The Technology Support Analyst may operate assigned vehicles on and/or off campus and must possess, maintain or obtain a valid drivers license upon appointment to the position.
