The Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning (UEP) is seeking a full-time lecturer in GIS, Environment, and Sustainability to start September 1st, 2019.
The primary teaching interests of the successful candidate will be in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). A sub-focus on the environment and sustainability is also required, and may include topics such as resilience, climate change, urban eco-systems, disaster management and recovery, infrastructure and transportation planning, and related areas. The department is especially interested in multi-disciplinary candidates whose interests connect across two or more of these areas. A background in remote sensing is preferred but not required. In addition, they will participate in departmental and university service and may serve as thesis advisor to masters level graduate students.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in GIS/geography, urban/regional planning, or environmental science are preferred, but doctoral degrees in related disciplines, such as biology, civil and environmental engineering, economics, sociology, and political science, will also be considered. A strong record of teaching excellence in GIS is required. In addition, connections with professional public policy and planning practice would be highly valued.
