SUMMARY:

CNT has an opening for a Systems Administrator (SA) located in Arlington, VA. The Systems Administrator will also support various technical and non-technical team members with their IT needs. The Systems Administrator (SA) will manage all infrastructure for our NPS Operations and Maintenance Support contract. This includes but is not limited to, A Hyper-V 2012 R2 environment currently comprised of 5 physical server and SAN. Environment supports approximately 120 Virtual machines comprised of a mix of Windows 2008, 2012, and 2012R with future plans for 2016 and / or 2019.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and reconfigure computers, servers, Virtual Machines (VMs)

Maintenance and patch management of all computers, servers

Monitor systems to detect failures, poor performance and determine system availability

Troubleshoot system failures, poor performance and correct accordingly to restore system availability

Ensure that the production environment is fully functional and is performing as specified

Ensure that systems are running and available during the defined hours of operation

Schedule systems operations activities and tasks on a recurring basis to minimize user impact and system down time

Implement non-emergency service requests during scheduled outages, as prescribed in the O&M Manual

Maintain a complete inventory of agency hardware, licensed software and systems.

Interface with other functional areas for day-to-day checks/corrections

Comply with and enforce Interconnection Security Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding

Ensure that service level objectives are kept accurate and are monitored

Ensure all processes, manual and automated, are documented in the operating procedures

Maintain performance measurements, statistics, and system logs

Monitor security controls and performance statistics, report the results, and escalate problems when they occur

Perform configuration, security and design reviews/audits to ensure software, system, parameter, and configuration are correct and effectively support the needs of PFMD

Maintain hardware operations at primary and alternate processing site

Ensure all production and required supporting VMs are replicated to alternate processing site

Ensure continuous improvement of alternate processing site so that advanced utilization can be realized

Recommend system upgrades and enhancements through online research and direct vendor interaction

Secondary Responsibilities:

Support applications and database team members as need

Support Networking Admin as needed

Supervisory/Management Authority:

This position does not require any supervisory/management authority and responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:

Candidates can be US citizens and/or have a current, valid and permanent US work authorization privileges (Permanent Resident Alien Card Holder). This position cannot accept candidates with any other forms of visas.

Must have or be able to be obtain a U.S. Federal Government Public Trust (NACI) clearance.

Bachelor's Degree highly desired, preferably in Mathematics, Computer Science, MIS, and/or Engineering or minimally four years of relevant experience.

Training or additional certifications from Microsoft, RedHat, Oracle, CompTIA (A+, Network +, etc.), are a plus.

Strong interpersonal communication. Must be able to communicate via telephone, email, person-person moderately complex or technical information, compose correspondence and reports.

Candidate will be required to undergo a US federal government background investigation and favorably pass a drug screen.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must possess a thorough understanding of Windows Server 2008 through 2019

Must possess a thorough understanding of MS Hyper V 2012

Hyper-V 2012 R2 environment currently comprised of 5 physical servers and SAN. Experience comprised of a mix of Windows 2008, 2012, and 2012R with future plans for 2016 and / or 2019.

Must possess an understanding of Networking principles and equipment.

Must possess an understanding of web server and web application administration in one or more of the following:

IIS

ColdFusion

WebSphere

Must have an understanding of security products including:

Antivirus

Firewalls

Endpoint management

Patch management

Encryption

Operating Systems Windows, RedHat Enterprise Linux, Hyper-V

Knowledge and experience in using Oracle utility tools

Aptitude to learn new technologies and support multiple systems

Ability to multi-task, work effectively under pressure and prioritize, time manage workload

Strong experience with Unix and Windows Operating Systems

This position is primarily performed in a controlled office environment in a secure U.S. Federal government building.
